Getting There:

By air: Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is located 70 kilometres south west of the city centre so getting to the city centre can take a while. All international flights land here, while the majority of domestic ones do too.

The easiest way to get to the city centre from KLIA is by Airport Coach which connects the airport to the city centre. The most inexpensive way is to get the Light Rail to Chan Sow Lin Station which is 20 minutes from Chinatown.

By train: Kuala Lumpur is the central point for Malaysia’s train network and connects the city to the rest of the country along with others such as Singapore and Thailand. The city’s train station is south of Merdeka Square.

By bus: Pudu Raya Bus Station is where you can expect to stop if travel to KL on bus which is situated on Jalan Pudu, east of Chinatown. This station is connected to most other major countries in south-east Asia.

Getting Around:

By Light Rail Transit (LRT): This is KL’s fastest public transport network. There are two lines which are in operation. The lines are called ‘Star’ and ‘Putra’. Star runs east of the centre and Putra, which has the longest running line of automated metro in the world, runs west of the centre to the northeast.

By bus: There are two bus companies operating public transport in KL. One company is called Intrakota and the other is known as Cityliner. They are quite old in comparison to the LRT and not as easy to use.
